"HAND TO HAND"
Lesson 6
In CHRISTIANITY, WE SERVE GOD by putting HIS WORD into practice. If we give a new CHRISTIAN something to do within the LORD’S CHURCH, with "older Christians", it can help them to grow stronger in the faith, and they will learn…the joy of serving Him, first hand. God called us into His Kingdom to serve and there is a place for everyone to begin. GOD didn’t create any "no-talent" people.
"I BESEECH YOU therefore, brethren that ye present…your bodies a LIVING SACRIFICE HOLY ACCEPTABLE UNTO GOD which is your REASONABLE SERVICE" (Romans 12:1).
WE have let go of SATAN, but he has not let go of us and will still be around to tempt us or tell us "we made a bad choice serving GOD" when in reality, he is a…CRUEL TASKMASTER.
"NO MAN CAN SERVE TWO MASTERS; for either he will hate the one and love the other; or else he will hold to the one and despise the other; ye cannot serve God and mammon" (Matthew 6:24).
"NEW CHRISTIANS are leaving worldliness, but some make the mistake of…continuing to run with worldly friends, who will not understand their "new love" for CHRIST, so be careful. You have a "new family" with CHRISTIANS who do understand that love and they will be there for you--your NEW CHRISTIAN FAMILY. One talent we all can use is "being a friend".
"FOR BRETHREN, YOU HAVE BEEN CALLED UNTO LIBERTY, ONLY USE NOT LIBERTY FOR AN...OCASSION TO THE FLESH, BUT BY…LOVE SERVE ONE ANOTHER" (Galatians 5:13).
This ministry of LOVE is one that each person can fulfill for GOD. JESUS SAID:
"IF YOU LOVE ME, KEEP MY COMMANDMENTS" (John 14:15).
I remember an instance in my life when I was a NEW CHRISTIAN, and certain people, took me under their wing, so to speak and helped me find a place to serve. An Air Force wife asked me to help her in her first grade class at Church. When her husband got shipped out, I was asked to "take over her class" and I was very afraid. She replied, "No one will ever know if you make a mistake". So I found that place to serve.
"WHOSOEVER SHALL GIVE TO DRINK UNTO ONE OF THESE LITTLE ONES, A CUP OF WATER, ONLY IN THE NAME OF A DISCIPLE SHALL IN NO WISE LOSE HIS REWARD" (Matthew 10:42).
JESUS counts our ACTS of kindness high on the list of "SERVANTHOOD". We as wives and mothers receive great joy in doing things for our families.
"HE MAKETH THE BARREN WOMAN TO KEEP HOUSE, AND TO BE A JOYFUL MOTHER OF CHILDREN. PRAISE YE THE LORD" (Psalms 113:9).
Oh, I know there are times when mothers can say, "OH THAT I HAD WINGS LIKE A DOVE1 FOR THEN WOULD I FLY AWAY AND BE AT REST" (Psalms 55:6). Been there, done that?
"BLESSED IS THE MAN THAT TRUSTETH IN THE LORD, AND WHOSE HOPE THE LORD IS" (Jeremiah 17:7).
I was raised in the LORD’S CHURCH, but when I left home I had very little knowledge of the BIBLE. I stopped going to church, and fell into sin, felt unhappy and ran with teens who didn’t know GOD either. JESUS SAID:
"IF THE BLIND LEAD THE BLIND…BOTH SHALL FALL INTO THE DITCH" (Matt. 15:14).
Paul and Barnabas, two leaders in the early church came to Antioch to teach the brethren.
"…a whole YEAR they assembled themselves with the CHURCH and TAUGHT MUCH PEOPLE, AND THE DISCIPLES were called…CHRISTIANS first in ANTIOCH" (Acts 11:26).
Don’t listen to the WORLD, get close to those FAITHFUL, OLDER BRETHREN IN CHRIST IN HIS CHURCH and they will lead you home to HEAVEN with HOLY living examples. Read Titus, chapter 2:1-10 for examples of the Elderly Brethren leading the younger brethren in Holy living.
"…put on the NEW MAN, which after GOD is created in righteousness, and TRUE HOLINESS" (Ephesians 4:24).
