"HOPE TO HOPE"
Lesson 4
Our parents loved us and showed their love with REWARDS and PUNISHMENTS. GOD loves us and PROMISES the same. Sometimes our parents did as they promised, but at times they weakened and let things go. I’m thankful that GOD always keeps promises…because I want those rewards and that’s what keeps ME HOPING. HOPE carries the idea of our getting what we expected.
Blessed be our GOD the Father of…JESUS CHRIST, full of mercy who has given a more "LIVELY HOPE" by the resurrection of JESUS CHRIST from the dead (1 Peter 1:3).
"To an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled, and that FADETH…NOT AWAY, RESERVED IN HEAVEN FOR YOU".
"Who are KEPT BY THE POWER OF GOD through FAITH unto salvation ready to be revealed..in the LAST TIME" (1 Peter 1:4-5).
When I grew up on a farm in Oklahoma, and saw something in a store that I wanted very much, my parents would lovingly say: "Wait until FALL". Because FALL was when our crops were gathered. It was the only time my father had any money to spare but God says:
"I KNOW ALL THE FOWLS OF THE MOUNTAINS: AND THE WILD BEASTS OF THE FIELD ARE MINE".
"IF I WERE HUNGRY I WOULD NOT TELL THEE, FOR THE WORLD IS MINE, AND THE FULNESS THEREOF" (Psalms 50:11-12).
Our GOD is unlimited and HOPE carries the idea of "expectancy". We can continue to HAVE FAITH in a GOD that can deliver. In our "Christian Walk", our FAITH WILL BE TESTED many times to make us stronger.
"That the trial of your FAITH being much more precious than of…GOLD that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found…unto PRAISE and HONOUR and GLORY, at the APPEARING OF JESUS CHRIST" (1 Peter 1:7).
"Whom having not seen, ye LOVE in whom, though now ye SEE HIM NOT…YET BELIEVING, YE REJOICE with JOY UNSPEAKABLE AND FULL OF GLORY"
"RECEIVING THE END OF YOUR FAITH EVEN THE SALVATION OF YOUR SOULS" (1 Peter 1:8-9).
KEEP YOUR FAITH, don’t let SATAN make you doubt. "GREATER IS HE THAT IS IN YOU THAN HE THAT IS IN THE WORLD (SATAN)". WHY? "YE ARE OF GOD, LITTLE CHILDREN, AND HAVE OVERCOME THEM" (1 John 4:4).
"WITHOUT FAITH it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to GOD must believe that, HE IS (GOD) and that HE IS A REWARDER OF THEM THAT DILIGENTLY SEEK HIM" (Hebrews 11:6)
You can trust God to KEEP HIS PROMISES and know that "FAITH COMETH BY HEARING, AND HEARING BY THE WORD OF GOD" (Romans 10:17). We must keep on hearing because we easily forget, so BIBLE STUDY is going to have to be a part of our life all of the time. We can live several weeks without food but without feasting on GOD’S WORD DAILY we will not be able to win over SATAN.
"Which HOPE we have as an ANCHOR OF THE SOUL, both sure and STEADFAST…" (Heb. 6:19).
We all know what an anchor is to a ship…so that the "CHRISTIAN" can "GO ON--UNTO PERFECTION: NOT LAYING AGAIN…the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God" (Hebrews 6:6). A SHIP OF faith must leave the harbor and the cargo GOD HAS CALLED US TO BRING BACK WILL BE THE SOULS OF OTHERS WHO NEED SALVATION.
"For GOD is not unrighteous to FORGET YOUR WORK AND LABOUR OF LOVE, WHICH WE HAVE SHOWN TOWARD HIS NAME, IN THAT YE HAVE MINISTERED TO THE SAINTS, AND DO MINISTER" (Hebrews 6:10).
"And we desire that everyone of you do show the same DILIGENCE…to the FULL ASSURANCE OF HOPE UNTO THE END: " THAT ye be NOT SLOTHFUL, but FOLLOWERS OF THEM WHO THROUGH FAITH AND PATIENCE INHERIT THE PROMISES" (Hebrews 6:11-12).
