"HEART TO HEART"
Lesson 1
Now that we know our way around in the O.T. and N.T. of the Bible, many students of the Bible Course, WONDROUS WORKS have written saying they wanted another Bible Course.
I remember how I felt when I began feasting on God’s Word. I simply couldn’t learn fast enough. When the preacher gave a sermon, I was hurriedly taking notes for me to take home and look up later, to see for myself. We should never just take the advice of others on understanding the Bible, but should be like the "Berean Christians" who:
"Received the WORD with all readiness of mind and searched the SCRIPTURES DAILY whether THOSE things were so" (ACTS 17:11).
Learning GOD’S WORD is our responsibility. The Bible says we should "SEARCH THE SCRIPTURES; FOR IN THEM YE THINK YE HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE…" (John 5:39).
LET'S CHOOSE NOT TO MISS HEAVEN.
"MY SON, ATTEND TO MY WORDS, INCLINE THINE EAR UNTO…MY SAYINGS:"
"Let them not depart from thine eyes: KEEP THEM in the midst of THINE HEART" (Prov 4:21). " For they are LIFE unto those that find them and health to all thy flesh" (Prov 4:22).
MANY ILLNESSES are real, and come to us through no fault of our own, but we have read that some illnesses come to us simply because of poor eating and living habits.
Doctors have said that many of their problem patients who come to them with cases of DEPRESSION, ANXIETY AND INSECURITIES could go home well if they could just let go of "WORRY", and have a STRONG FAITH IN GOD. I wish I could say that I have never walked down that lonely and dark pathway. We ALL HAVE and it may be why God instructs US in the scripture…
"KEEP THY HEART WITH ALL DILIGENCE FOR OUT OF IT ARE THE ISSUES OF LIFE" (Prov. 4:23).
AM I SAVED?
Let’s assume that all who have studied GOD’S WORD from the passages given in the BIBLE regarding the…WAY OF SALVATION have OBEYED THE GOSPEL OF JESUS CHRIST who died for our sins. So let’s move on for greater knowledge and walk…with our GOD. It is a wonderful feeling knowing ALL IS WELL with you and your GOD.
"And walk in love, as CHRIST also hath loved us, and hath given HIMSELF for us an offering and a SACRIFICE TO GOD for a sweet smelling savour" (Eph 5:2).
Know "Thy hands made ME and fashioned me. Give me understanding that I may…Learn Thy COMMANDMENTS" (Psalms 119:73).
If we have those daily "HEART TO HEART" talks with GOD, we can live with assurance. King David knew and trusted HIS GOD when he prayed asking…
"KEEP ME AS THE APPLE OF THE EYE, HIDE ME UNDER THE SHADOW OF THY WINGS" (Psalms 17:8)
I think the EYE here means "Protection" and "Care" and God’s close walk with His Children. In the OLD TESTAMENT, we read:
"MY SON, KEEP MY WORDS, AND LAY UP MY COMMANDMENTS WITH THEE"
"KEEP MY COMMANDMENTS…AND LIVE; AND MY LAW AS THE APPLE OF THINE EYE"
"BIND THEM UPON THY FINGERS…WRITE THEM UPON THE TABLES OF THINE HEART" (Prov. 7:1-3).
SATAN is out there in the world seeking whom he may devour, so we need to ask GOD for his HELP every day. We need to do some seeking too. WATCH OUT FOR SATAN.
"SEEK YE FIRST THE KINGDOM OF GOD (His Church) AND HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS" (Matt 6:33).
"O LORD, I KNOW THAT THE WAY OF MAN IS NOT IN HIMSELF: IT IS NOT IN MAN THAT WALKETH TO DIRECT HIS STEPS" (Jeremiah 10:23).
God should be allowed to DIRECT OUR LIVES. For we would like to hear GOD SAY:
"WELL DONE THY GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT" (Matt 25:21).
